Cruising down the highway,
Speed limit 55
Trees racing by like fence posts
White lines a snake that seems alive.

My mind racing like a stock car
Random thoughts running wild
Talking to the rearview mirror
But no answers in a while.

Out of no where thoughts appear
Like when glancing in a mirror,
I don’t fully grasp the process
But the truth so real so near.

Shaving, a thought pops in my mind,
If wise, I’ll stop and jot it down.
These revelations, like good intentions,
Don’t seem to stick around.

Do we all have random thoughts
Things unexpected that seem to fit,
Like a missing piece in a puzzle,
A geometry problem that now you git?

What triggers these epiphanies
The unexpected missing link,
After laboring for hours
in a sec your minds in sync.

We know our minds are always working
So keep pen and paper close at hand
Good thoughts can sneak up on you
They come but once, they come unplanned.

Everyone’s life is but a story
Though the endings not always clear
But the Author’s speaking to us
If we’ll slow and listen we can hear.

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
