Evil in Paris

How do you make sense of the senseless? Can a reasonably moral person even comprehend the degree of hatred behind these latest unimaginable, cowardly, imbecilic acts of vengeance/retribution. For sure it is good versus evil, righteous versus unrighteous but in the end it’s actually a spiritual battle; spiritual people versus spiritually-void people and, naturally, each side thinks they are the good guys.

Assuming, for the sake of argument, that we are the good guys, is there any hope for success with our current world leadership which doesn’t have a clue what the core problem is. This is the 44th attack involving at least 1 death in the past 14 years in Europe and they’re just now seeing there’s a war going on. There’s been a war going on since Adam and Eve bit the apple but if you are not a spiritual person you probably wouldn’t know it since it’s impossible to discern spiritual problems and harder still to deduce spiritual solutions if you’re not spiritual yourself.

The proof of our current world leaders spiritual blindness can be heard in their rhetoric when they talk about people’s universal belief in free speech which the Charlie Hebdo massacres and the sacredness of life which 55,000,000 aborted children in America alone proves is not universally believed. True evil doesn’t believe either of these 2 things as the recent horror in Paris so sadly confirms. In fact, many people, perhaps even a majority of people, hate these 2 “universal beliefs”.

So, if our world leaders aren’t capable of even seeing the problem, how can we expect them to know it’s a problem or develop a plan to defeat it? To spiritually blind people, allowing Iran to continue to develop atomic power and thinking they can somehow control them or leaving giant holes in our country’s borders will somehow permit only freedom-loving people to enter, seems to make perfect sense.

I say all this to make the point that evil is all around us but can only be seen and understood for what it really is by spiritual people and only Spirit-filled people know how to combat it and the correct weapons to use. Perhaps that’s why the Bible talks about us not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places in Ephesians 6:12.  And that though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does and the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world, we have divine power to demolish strongholds, arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God (2 Cor: 10: 3-5).

Only spiritual man through Jesus the Christ can defeat the evil that’s all around us and not just on foreign soil. The sooner we believe that and start following the only Person who can defeat it by using His, and not the world’s weapons, the sooner this war will be won.

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
