Heroin and A Brother

One day he’s walking with us
The next he’s cold as ice;
Heroin’s the poison Satan used
To snatch a brothers life.

Mark’s life was sadly taken
Way before his time;
Heroin that evil, deadly drug
Was the cause of his demise.

Life seems so very precious
For those that appear to win;
But the addict lives from hit to hit
The syringe their only friend.

Do most people even notice
That satan’s killed again?
Heroin’s his current drug of choice
His guile and evil know no end.

Why do most lives seem important,
But Addicts we expect to fall;
We seem to love our dogs and cats,
But Addicts least of all.

When our pets get badly handled
We want justice to be served;
But when heroin claims another life
It’s like they got what they deserved.

If the amount of heroin’s epidemic,
Why so few who seem to care;
Needles clutched in desperate hands
Alone, facing the evil that’s out there.

Let’s lock them up, forget ’em
Let ’em be what they will be;
It’s their own fault they’re addicts,
Lock ’em up, throw away the key.

But remember it’s not just the addict,
That heroin rips apart,
For the families torn asunder
Plenty of guilt to spread about.

But if it really is a sickness,
They need help and not a cell,
So please don’t try to lock them up
Only loving relationships will make ’em well.

I pray someday we’ll get it,
Addictions a disease and not a choice;
Thankfully, Mark’s now home with Jesus
And at last Mark has a voice.

Men, Mourning & Moments

Another friend has lost the battle
Way before his time
Heroin has claimed another
Way before his time.

Life seems much less important
The good guys never win
Heroin takes another,
The good guys never win.

Does it even matter to the world
That heroin has won again
Pets mean more than addicts
Who cares that heroin’s won again.

Why are some lives unimportant,
Addicts least of all
We seem to love our dogs and cats
But Addicts least of all.

If our pet gets abused by someone
We want justice to be served
But when heroin claims another
Their justice has been served!

If heroins an epidemic
Then why does no one care
The addicts dying so much younger
So why does no one care?

Let’s lock him up, forget ’em
Let’s throw away the key;
It’s their fault that their addicts,
Lets throw away the key.

We forget…

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
