Resolution Solution

The key to keeping resolutions
Is who you make ’em with,
If you make them with yourself
Success you’re sure to miss.

But choose your partner wisely
It determines pass or fail
If you really want to keep ’em
Grab hold and blaze a trail.

The key to most endeavors
Is to share it with a friend
They will encourage and support you,
So you don’t break,
Though maybe bend.

We must change our way of thinking
Don’t put the cart before the horse,
Like the key to loving others
Doesn’t start with loving self.

The truth is quite the opposite,
Though hard to comprehend;
The more you love on others
Frees your heart to start to mend.

And if you focus on being happy
You’ll inevitably turn up sad;
‘Cause it’s while you’re helping others
That your life turns bad to glad.

Man is not an island
But even if we were
It’s the water ’round the island
That’s the pathway to the world.

Like having no control
Over if and when we’re born;
Much of life’s controlled by others
Though no cause to be alarmed.

Everyone lives by faith
The key’s what your faith is in
But if it’s anything but the Savior
It’s the beginning of your end.

So when making resolutions
Don’t think of just yourself
Be more concerned with others,
God will handle all the rest.

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
