Attention Tension

Out of Adam’s side Eve was sculpted,
God made her just for him;
Saving blood flowed from Christ’s side
Making His bride just for Him!

God always does what’s best for us,
Like the pristine garden made for them
Where they walked and talked with Jesus
Enjoying the blessings found therein.

Would we have ever known God,
Had He not revealed Himself to us?
Adam and Eve were Gods’ idea
To love, relate and trust.

Still He didn’t have to make us
He made us ’cause He wanted to,
Which is humbling when you consider
God wanted a relationship with me and you.

Yet we humans don’t always get it,
We think God’s mad at us
Though He’s given all we’ve needed
And His love should be enough.

But once you’ve lived in a garden
And walked with God alone,
Having God’s complete attention
You’d think would be enough.

So the attention man still craves
Humans simply can’t provide
Because once you’ve walked with Jesus
Man’s attention leaves you dry.

So much of what we do
Is to make us all feel better
About how we view ourselves
And the attention we all treasure.

We parade people by
All that we have done
Hoping for the accolades
And the good feelings sure to come.

But when getting attention is our focus
We’re beating our heads against a wall,
Since it’s really God’s attention
We’ve been craving since the fall.

But perhaps craving attention
Is really not so wrong,
It’s whose attention that we’re after
That makes us weak or strong.

So stop and think a moment
And consider all the clues,
When Adam and Eve walked with Jesus
Was when they were “very good”!

So let’s go back to the garden
Where contentment can be found,
As we stroll about with Jesus
And His attention’s all around.

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
