Surrender

Why?

Life’s hard, why try?
’cause you have too,
that’s why,
keep tryin’, don’t cry!

How?

Be a good parent?
though you haven’t a clue;
do what seems natural,
but that’s why I’m confused!

Try what’s expected,
don’t go out on a limb
play it safe, don’t gamble
and please don’t offend.

Where?

Go to church
Life’s answers are there
though it’s made up of sinners
so you have to beware.

Get a job,
start at nine
too many bosses,
ropes to climb.

Give up, quit trying?
keep plugging away?
Which am I buying?
Where’s the right way?

What?

What’s the answer
where do I turn
for truth, not suggestions,
please help me to learn.

If God is out there,
with the answers to life,
Help me to find Him,
I can’t fix me myself.

Who?

God’s the answer,
if only we’d see
through the shadows and glimpses
and the hints of might be.

He has to be real
though the world’s quite a mess;
but why if He made it
for man to be blessed?

Faith, hope and love
what do they mean,
I’m clueless, hopeless,
please help me to see.

As birds know to migrate,
and bears know to sleep,
man knows there’s a God
who makes them complete.

Surrender!

Finally, I get it,
there’s a reason to live,
by simply surrendering
new life God will give.

As your burdens lighten
you look in the mirror,
and smiling back is the Savior
Whose always been near.

The what, where’s and why’s
make life hard here on earth;
only the Lord of the Heavens
gives it meaning and worth!

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
