A Taste of Heaven

Think of the absolute best day you ever have had
It’s a foretaste of heaven where sad’s eclipsed by glad;

No evil and no illness, just unspeakable joy
Like a child at Christmas with all his toys.

The one constant in heaven is God’s energizing, pulsating love,
That generates, consummates and sustains all that’s above.

It’s the beauty of the mountains, the thrill of the beach
And what makes it wonderful is your Lord’s nearby, in reach.

It’s as marvelous as sunsets and stars twinkling at night
and flowers in the garden with their colors blazing bright.

Every minute a sensual memory of becoming one,
exhilaration and ecstasy that can’t be outdone.

Every relationship like two peas in a pod
wrapped in the arms of your Savior and your God.

No longer struggling to Emmaus, now walking streets of gold
where youth is eternal and you can believe everything you’re told.

Disease, self-absorption, always competing now in the past,
replaced by a peace and joy that will forever last.

The mansions Jesus’ preparing we can’t comprehend
and to think our joys eternal means it will never end.

Each job will be something we look forward to
and won’t be labor and no projects overdue.

On earth faith, hope and love were the three wise men
but two have faded away as true love we comprehend,

Faith and hope swallowed up by the lover of our souls
and He is all that matters and what in part is now made whole.

Perhaps heaven’s best described as where love rules God’s domain
And all eyes are on the Roaring Lamb whose on His throne and reigns

But what makes heaven supremely splendid
is not the beauty that’s all around
but God’s glory that shines, abounds.

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons, 2 daughters and 6 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Women, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.
