“Everyone Did as He Saw Fit”‘ Judges 21:25, NIV

The results that follow the reign of the spirit of death are clearly defined in God’s word where Moses told the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life….” In our representative form of government, we, the USA, chose death in the Roe v. Wade decision. This choice of death is further evidenced by the church’s pathetic lack of response to the Supreme Court’s ruling in that if not for the Catholic Church and Francis Schaefer, there would have been mostly no response at all. Why?

We, as a nation, chose self-government over Godly government and chose to do what was right in our own eyes (Judges 21:25). Or, again, as stated in Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” When man over the course of history, including USA history, has chosen to do what it thought was right in its own eyes, tragedy of unlimited proportions as followed. Take for example Stalin, who for a short time attended Orthodox Seminary, and his collectivism/industrialism; Hitler, who for a while claimed to be a Christ follower, and his Nazism/Eugenics; Pol Pot, who attended a Buddhist Monastery, and his Agrarian Utopia ism; Idi Amin and his fanatical Muslim-ism and Christian-cleansing are but a few examples.

All of these men believed in some form of master race and eliminated inferior ones and their nations were severely judge for it. We are much more like those Nations than we think. God often judged Israel in the Old Testament by the rulers set over them and the above nations and us are no different. In 1973 we got the Supreme Court we deserved. Another example, can there be a more do what he thinks is right in his eyes president than our current President who has trampled over our Constitution and God’s laws?

Read the book of Lamentations in the Old Testament of the Bible to get a sense, feel for what happens to a people that reject God’s law and seek to do what is right in their own eyes. It is not a pretty picture.

So what awaits a nation that has turned it’s collective backs on 54 million innocent babies? The Bible REQUIRES that man protect and defend innocent life and babies are the society’s preeminent example of innocent life (God’s View of Innocent Life by Dr. Deborah S. Coyner). The blood of 54 million innocent lives cry out to God from the ground and God is listening. And,
what God did to the land on which Abel’s blood was spilled, God will do to the ground on which 54 million lives has been spilled. He curses it. We are a nation wallowing in the blood of the innocent.

As Jeremiah came to see in Lamentations, God is a Holy, Righteous and Just God who, in accordance with His own character/will, has no choice but to judge a nation that destroys 54 million innocent lives. And, He is loving and compassionate in doing so. We have heard so many sermons on the love of God in this country but few on the holiness and justice of our God that we forget the penalties for disobedience. God is a patient God but there is an end to His patience, and I fear, we are dangerously close or perhaps have exhausted His patience. Has our destiny already been determined or is there still time for us to repent and turn back to God? The church didn’t stand up in 1973 and voice it’s opposition to Roe v. Wade so will it stand up now? It’s time for the church to stop focussing on buildings and numbers and on God’s Glory and God’s character and committing to being a humble and broken church unashamedly chasing after God and His Will for His Bride.

About menmourningmoments

I'm happily married, the Father of 2 sons and 2 daughters and 4 beautiful grandchildren. Death is all around us but somehow we've managed to distance ourselves from it. Men, Mourning, Moments is about how the death of my son awakened me to life & the desire to seize every moment as though it were my last. It's about making sense of life in the good times and bad and allowing GOD to carry me and teach me through the hard times in life.

  1. Susan says:

Preach it Mason. I agree wholeheartedly.

  2. I fear we are living in the last days; if not for the world at least for our Country. And, if we don’t as a Nation repent of our wickedness, then all is lost. We have to be the Watchmen on the Wall warning our Nation. Please pray that we’ll know & do our small part in this battle against evil.
